PIW is the rated working tension, in pounds per inch of belt width. Each belt's page lists its plies, thickness, smallest pulley and temperature range.

Heavy duty conveyor belting

Rubber-covered belts for impact, abrasion and heavy loads. Choose the cover by what the belt carries:

• Grade 2 (SBR): general-purpose, abrasion-resistant rubber for sand, gravel and general bulk.
• Moderate Oil Resistant (MOR): for oily grain, wood chips and similar material. Also available static conductive.
• Super Oil Resistant (SOR): for heavy oil exposure, including hot asphalt.
• Flame resistant and static conductive: for grain handling and other dusty areas where static build-up is a concern.
• High heat: EPDM covers for material up to 400 °F, and EPM covers for peak temperatures up to 700 °F.
• Cleated and chevron: molded cleats that hold bulk material on inclines.

Light duty conveyor belting

Thinner, more flexible belts that run on small pulleys:

• General purpose and package handling: assembly lines, packaging and cartons.
• Food grade: FDA-approved nitrile, white RMV rubber, butyl and PTFE (Teflon) covers.
• Hot stock and water: bare cotton duck tops, and silicone covers rated to 500 °F, for rubber and tire plants.
• Solid woven cotton: FDA-approved all-cotton belting for food and baking lines and slider beds.
• Transmission: friction-both-sides belts for power transmission and metal parts.
• Incline: roughtop, wedgegrip and ribbed tops that grip cartons and bags.

PVC conveyor belting

PVC covers on an interwoven polyester carcass: tough and easy to clean.

• General: package handling, slider beds and roller beds, plus flame-resistant, static-conductive belts up to 750 PIW for grain and feed.
• FDA: white, FDA-approved PVC for food handling, including flour and sugar.
• Incline: roughtop, chevron and crescent-pattern tops.

Frequently asked questions

What does belt ply mean, and how many plies do I need?

Plies are the layers of fabric inside the belt that carry the load. More plies generally means a higher rated tension and a stiffer belt that needs larger pulleys. Our heavy duty belts run 2 to 4 plies; light duty belts run 2 to 9. Each belt's page lists its rated tension (PIW) and smallest pulley. Send us your material, belt width and conveyor length and we will help you choose.

What is the difference between MOR and SOR belts?

MOR means Moderate Oil Resistant: a cover for material with some oil in it, such as oily grain and wood chips. SOR means Super Oil Resistant: a cover for heavy oil exposure, including hot asphalt. Using a cover that is not oil resistant around oil lets the rubber swell and wear early.

Which belts are food grade?

Belts with FDA-approved covers are grouped in our food-grade category: nitrile, white RMV rubber, butyl, PTFE (Teflon), white PVC and solid woven cotton. If your line also falls under USDA inspection, confirm the belt meets the rules for your product.

Can you cut a belt to length and make it endless?

Yes. Every belt is cut to the length you order. We can also install mechanical lacing, splice it endless (vulcanized or glued), and add cleats, sidewalls or V-guides. Finishing is quoted to order; tell us your application requirements.
